FACULTY POLICIES

Faculty Policies

  • Faculty are appointed as either full-time or part-time.

  • Faculty have the primary responsibility of teaching and advising students in the CYSCJS, as assigned by the Rosh Yeshiva. Faculty will provide each student with formal evaluations of the work in the course or independent study project.

  • Faculty must hold an appropriate professional or academic credential. This credential might be rabbinic ordination or a terminal academic degree, such as the Ph.D. in appropriate discipline or D.H.L. degree from an accredited institution.

  • Faculty must place on file syllabi for all courses taught with the Academic Dean no later than the first meeting of the class. Syllabi will be made available to students via the College’s web site no later than the first class meeting. The syllabus must list competencies required for the successful completion of the course.

  • Faculty members, in collaboration with the Rosh Yeshiva and the Academic Dean, will bear the responsibility for developing, assessing and reassessing all courses.

  • Faculty must administer student evaluations during the final week of the semester. (The forms will be provided by the Academic Dean.) At the conclusion of each semester, each faculty will meet with the Academic Dean for the purpose of evaluation of teaching and improvement of institutional effectiveness. The Academic Dean will send a notation of this meeting to the faculty member and a copy will be placed in his personnel file.

  • It is the responsibility of faculty members to file with the Academic Dean copies of all appropriate and verified credentials, diplomas, transcripts, etc., which will be maintained on file in CYSCJS’s office.

  • All faculty, whether full- or part-time, including administrators, must submit to the Academic Dean documentation of completion of eight hours of continuing education each year.
